Make Your Own Hand Gel Sanitizer

Written by Paulo Martirez on Sunday, March 01, 2009

Hand sanitizers are very common nowadays. A lot of people are using it as if its already part of their lives. Commercial hand sanitizers are expensive but here is one recipe you can use to make your very own homemade hand gel sanitizer using only ingredients you can easily found on your kitchen:

• 1 bowl
• 1 cup pure aloe vera gel
• 1-2 tsp witch hazel
• 3-4 drops tea tree essential oil
• 3-4 drops peppermint essential oil

1. Place 1 cup of pure aloe vera gel into the bowl.

2. Slowly mix in 1-2 teaspoons of witch hazel. You do not want the consistency of the gel to become too thin.

3. Add 3-4 drops of tea tree essential oil and 3-4 drops of peppermint essential oil.

4. Slowly stir ingredients together.

NOTE: If you find the consistency to be too thin, add more aloe vera gel a teaspoon at a time until you reach your desired consistency.

5. Store in your desired container.

6. Done!

Use as you would any other hand sanitizer as necessary.

Tea Tree Oil has shown some antibacterial/anti-fungal qualities, but in 5% solutions. Your recipe uses quite a bit less than that. Has the effectiveness been proven for this formula?
